Established in 1992 by Dean Kamen, FIRST is a student-based organization which challenges students creatively, strategically and academically. Under strict rules, limited resources, and a six-week time limit, teams are challenged to raise funds, develop teamwork skills, and build and program robots to play a field game against like-minded competitors. "It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get." -FRC Organization

The 2018 game, Power Up, will be a game based on collecting and placing milk crates. As usual, there will be three teams on each alliance. The game will be a race to collect crates and place them on either of the switches or the scale to earn points. You can also get the crates back to your alliance and use to them to get one of three power-ups including Levitate, Force, and Boost each one giving you different advantages. Each power-up has three levels of power. In the game, the robots will be delivering the crates to the aforementioned switches or scale earning points for each second you own it. When the tele-op period has thirty seconds remaining, each robot now has the opportunity to climb up a bar attached to the six-foot scale and raise themselves one foot off the floor for an additional 30 points.
